CEO of GE talks to Y’s Men about economy

Jeffery R. Immelt, chairman of the board and CEO of GE, will be the Y’s Men of Westport/Weston’s featured speaker at its Jan. 22 meeting at the Unitarian Church in Westport at 10 Lyons Plains Road.

He will talk about what he has been doing at GE and what he sees as challenges for the economy and the country going forward. Coffee and donuts start at 9:45 a.m.; Mr. Immelt’s talk begins at 10:30.

A gradate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Business School, Mr. Immelt joined GE in 1982 and succeeded Jack Welch as CEO and chairman of the board in 2001. He also served as chairman of the Business Council in 2005 and 2006 and the chairman of President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
