Around 12:37 p.m. this afternoon, Weston police, fire and EMS, responded to a call about a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Newtown Turnpike near the Redding town line.

Upon arrival, first responders found a single vehicle up against the guard rail on the opposite side of the roadway, according to Mark Blake spokesman for the Weston Volunteer Fire Department.

The operator of the vehicle was still inside and treated by EMS and then transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said. The road was closed for about one hour.

This was the second motor vehicle accident reported on Newtown Turnpike today. The earlier accident was on the other end of Newtown Turnpike, on the dirt road section.

Names have not yet been released in either accident.
