Eviction proceedings have been filed in court against Easton couple Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin, who have been missing for 10 weeks.

An eviction notice citing non-payment of rent was filed against the Navins in Bridgeport Superior Court on Oct. 8 by Rob Hennessey and Patrice Barrett.

The Navins have been renting a home from Hennessey and Barrett at 77 Staples Road in Easton since June.

Before that, the Navins lived in Weston since 1994 at 37 Osborn Farm Road. That home was in Jeanette Navin’s name only, and was sold in June for $900,000.

In addition to evicting the Navins, Hennessey and Barrett filed a motion on Oct. 8, asking for an order to gain access to the house and change the locks. A hearing on that motion is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 9:30 a.m.

Jeffrey Navin, 56, and Jeanette Navin, 55, were reported missing on Aug. 7. Their son, Kyle Navin, 27, was reportedly the last person to see the couple on Aug. 4.

Kyle Navin is currently being held in police custody. He was arrested on Sept. 8, and charged with charge of possession of a firearm by someone who is an unlawful user of, or addicted to, any controlled substance. He pleaded not guilty to the charge at an arraignment on Sept. 24.

Navin has a court date set for Thursday, Oct. 15 for defense motions. Jury selection is set for Nov. 9. He has not been charged in connection with the missing couple.

An ongoing investigation into the couple’s disappearance is being conducted by the FBI Bridgeport Violent Crimes Task Force, Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad and the Easton Police Department, with the assistance of the State’s Attorney’s Office for the Fairfield Judicial District and the Westport, Weston and Bridgeport police departments.
