Smoke and CO detector recall

Kidde, a brand of smoke detectors, recently announced a recall of some of its combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

The recalled alarm can fail to continue to chirp when it reaches its seven-year end-of-life cycle even if the batteries are replaced, leading consumers to believe it is still working.

This poses a risk of consumers not being alerted to a fire or CO incident in their home.

The Weston Volunteer Fire Department urges residents to check the detectors in their homes.

Kidde is available to call toll-free at 855-239-0490.
